1. A Service of Prayer for Our Nation: Disagreeing in Good Faith, join senior faith leaders for a multifaith assembly to help us all prepare for the election and healing ahead, Oct. 17, The Carter Center, Cecil B. Day Chapel, 7-8:30 p.m.

3. The Rev. Dr. J. Peter Holmes, minister of Yorkminster Park Baptist Church in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, is the featured preacher Oct. 20, on “Day 1” with host Katie Givens Kime, the nationally broadcast ecumenical radio program also accessible online at Day1.org and by podcast. “Preferential Treatment” is based on Mark 10:35-45, in which the very human James and John ask to sit one on either side of Jesus in glory. 4. Interfaith Children's Movement Children's Sabbath Weekend is a unique opportunity for people of all ages and faith traditions to come together, engage in meaningful conversations, and take action to support the well-being of young people in Georgia. This year’s events include:
 
Saturday, October 19 is Advocacy Day: Let 1000 Leaders Bloom! First Congregational Church of Atlanta, UCC, 105 Courtland St NE, Atlanta 30303, 9:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., breakfast and lunch provided. Intergenerational storytelling workshop focused on the 1000 young people in Georgia who age out of foster care each year. Together, we will explore the resources needed to support these young people as they transition into adulthood and discuss how faith communities can play a vital role in their success.

Sunday, October 20, ICM Interfaith Children’s Sabbath Service Part 1, First Congregational Church of Atlanta UCC, 105 Courtland St NE, Atlanta 30303, 11:00 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. Come together for a child-centered service filled with prayers, blessings, and messages of hope from leaders of various faiths, featuring a keynote message from Rev. Ambassador Andrew Young.

5. Braver Angels and the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta announce a free workshop: "Depolarizing Ourselves," Sunday, Oct. 20, 12:15 - 2:15 p.m. at 1328 Peachtree Street. 6. Organist Scott Lamlein will perform at the Cathedral of St. Philip In person and livestreamed on Cathedral Website, Sunday, Oct. 20, 3:15 p.m. playing works of Bach, Price, Locklair, and Mulet. Lamlein is director of music at All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Atlanta. A graduate of graduate of the Hartt School, University of Hartford (CT), he has performed all over Europe and North America. Following the recital, the Cathedral offers a service of Choral Evensong.
 
7. Join Georgia Interfaith Power & Light Green Team members at the Wylde Center Sugar Creek site in Decatur Tuesday, Oct. 22 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. for a tour and partial workday. Sugar Creek is a model for urban farming on unbuildable land and features pockets of pollinators, medicinal herbs, and community garden beds. Alan Ashe, Wylde Center site coordinator and Oakhurst Presbyterian Green Team member, will lead activities - weeding, watering, mulching, composting, and sowing.  LEARN MORE & REGISTER
 
8. The Rev. Dr. Robert MacSwain, Oct. 24, 12:00 p.m. Note this online event is central time. “The Saint Is Our Evidence: The Hagiological Argument for the Existence of God, will present the thesis of MacSwain's forthcoming book. Drawing on the work of Austin Farrer, Sarah Coakley, Rowan Williams, Stanley Hauerwas, and others, the book explores the provocative idea that perhaps the best evidence for God is found not in the conventional "theistic arguments" of natural theology, but in transformed holy human lives. In this Lunch & Learn, Dr. MacSwain will address the "hagiological" argument (or argument from holiness) and some of the important questions it raises. Register Now
 
9. Originally scheduled to be held in Western North Carolina, this event has just been relocated to Atlanta.  As we continue to pray for all affected by recent hurricanes, let us gather to welcome this new creation into the world! John Philip Newell is a Celtic teacher and author of spirituality who calls the modern world to reawaken to the sacredness of Earth and every human being.  His newest book, “The Great Search,” forges a new path toward a true spiritual home, embracing a deep connection to the natural world. 10. North Carolina Council of Churches offers Faith in Action: Trauma-Informed Disaster Recovery Thursday, Oct. 24, 7 - 8:30 p.m., online. This webinar, led by an experienced trauma therapist, Roberta Borden Wilson, will explore trauma and the importance of trauma-responsive ministry in the wake of disaster.  Whether you're a faith leader, community stakeholder, or concerned neighbor, this webinar will equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to foster resilience and healing in your community and to those you care about. Click here to register.

12. Shallowford Presbyterian Church invites all Atlanta neighbors to the Annual Trunk-or-Treat Saturday, Oct. 26, 2:30-4 p.m. This neighborhood-friendly tradition takes place in the Shallowford parking lot. 14. Ignatius House Art & Faith: Transforming Narratives from Antisemitism to Unity Sunday, Oct. 27, 4-6 p.m., featuring guest speaker Brendan Murphy. A distinguished history teacher at Marist School and founder of the “Bearing Witness” program, Murphy has spent nearly 30 years educating about the Holocaust and addressing the long history of antisemitism. During this event, he will share insights from his “History and the Holocaust” course and his role in bringing the transformative sculpture Synagoga and Ecclesia in Our Time to Marist. This work of art reimagines the traditional Medieval symbols of division between Judaism and Christianity, now standing side by side, united in shared dignity. 15. 2024 Reformation Day at Emory, on campus and online, Thursday, Oct. 31. The highlight of the day is a lecture by Professor Christine Helmer of Northwestern University: “The Promise of Luther’s ‘On Christian Freedom’ for Politics Today.” This is one part of a full fall program of in-person and virtual events, centered on the theme “Justification and Justice: 16th-Century Texts and 21st-Century Politics.” More information and registration are at Register Here
 
16. The Training and Counseling Center at St. Luke’s (TACC) is seeking formal partnerships with nonprofits and community churches. TACC offers sliding scale counseling services for individual counseling needs for the community and an affordable rate for agencies who are interested in supplementing counseling fees for clients whom they refer for services. 17. Global Village Project's Welcome Walk 2024 celebrates 16 years of enabling girls’ education, Saturday, Nov. 2, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. The Walk represents Global Village’s commitment to making Atlanta a refuge for refugees to live, learn, and thrive.  Over 300 people will gather to walk 5 miles from Clarkston to Decatur. Not ready to walk 5 miles? No worries! Buses are available throughout the day to pick you up anywhere along the route and take you to the finish line celebration. This is an event for all ages.  Join students, parents, teachers, volunteers, and friends of GVP's mission to strengthen connections between communities. Welcome Walk 2024 (onecause.com)
