February 2 is the day we remember the presentation of the infant Jesus in the temple at Jerusalem. Some denominations bless the candles that will be used in worship on this day, thus, it is sometimes called Candlemas.
Benedictine Collect for the Feast of the Presentation
Almighty and Everlasting God,
we humbly beseech Thy Majesty
that as They only-begotten Son was this day
presented in the temple in the substance of our flesh,
so too Thou wouldst grant us
to be presented unto Thee with purified souls
and bring us into your presence.
Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen
Prayer for the Blessing of Candles
God our Father,
Source of all light,
today you revealed to Simeon
Your light of revelation to the nations.
Bless + these candles and make them holy.
May we who carry them to praise your glory
walk in the path of goodness
and come to the light that shines forever
Grant this through Christ our Lord.

It may be used for individual reflection, group Bible study, adult education sessions, and congregational daily devotions. This began on June 16 but can be used at any time.
