North Carolina Council of Churches letter on Stewart Detention Center

Below is a letter from  the North Carolina Council of Churches signed by 60 clergy from the state. They have gotten the attention of their congressional representatives and feel it would improve their position if they had colleagues in South Carolina and Georgia who had also received a similar letter from faith leaders. If you are interested in writing your representatives, the letter below contains the pertinent information. You may contact Jennifer Copeland, at…

HB 426 Hate Crimes legislation: Georgia is one of only five states without a hate crimes law. The events of recent weeks highlight the danger of allowing violence motivated by hate to go unpunished. Presbyterians for a Better Georgia encourages you to support passage of the Hate Crimes legislation this session by contacting state leadership and your State senator.

Every call from a constituent makes a difference.

A Statement from Decatur's White Clergy on Racism and Justice

Black Lives Matter. We name that unequivocal truth. Black lives matter to God.

We speak to you as white ordained leaders of Decatur churches that for generations have sought to be faithful to the gospel of Jesus Christ. However, our beloved churches have fallen short of our call and commission to live fully into Christ’s call because we have embraced the self-serving corruption of systemic racism. Too many of our Decatur churches were planted in soil tainted with racism. Too…

Medicaid Re-enrollment

If your ministry serves Medicaid/PeachCare for Kids, the Dept. of Human Services has a message and materials for you.

    • Redetermination began in April 2023. Based on changes in federal law, the State of Georgia must complete redeterminations up to May 2024. We want to ensure current Medicaid and PeachCare for Kids® members are still eligible for coverage.
    • During redetermination, the State of Georgia will collect and verify member information, including contact and income details as well as other requested information and documents that will be used to determine member eligibility. Not everyone will go through this process at the same time. In fact, it will take about 14 months to reach everyone.
    • Members can visit gateway.ga.gov to view their redetermination date and to update their contact information today so they can stay informed about the status of their coverage.
    • Members who need help can visit their local Division of Family & Children Services office for support. To find the location and business hours for local offices, visit: dfcs.ga.gov/location
    • For more information on Medicaid redetermination, we are including a partner toolkit with resources in multiple languages, please visit “Stay Informed. Stay Covered.”
