1. The Alliance for Christian Media is a nonprofit organization producing Day1, a nationally broadcast radio program and podcast featuring inspiring sermons and conversations from leading mainline Protestant preachers. Founded in 1945, Day1 has a legacy of bridging historic Protestant traditions with contemporary audiences. ACM operates entirely virtually, with a small but dynamic team dedicated to advancing the organization’s mission and modernizing its operations for a sustainable future. ACM seeks a Bookkeeper with Controller-level responsibilities to join the team. This critical role will manage financial operations while collaborating on operational improvements. They are eager to engage someone quickly to allow overlap and training before the current bookkeeper’s departure on Feb. 28, 2025. 4. Please note the new location for the Feb. 8, 10:00 a.m. Emory Sacred Harp Singing, Wesley Teaching Chapel - dinner on the grounds at noon. 5. The Rev. Dr. Claudia Kohli Reichenbach, a pastor of the Petruskirche (Peter’s Church) congregation of the Swiss Reformed Church in Bern, Switzerland, is the featured preacher Feb. 9 on “Day 1,” the nationally broadcast ecumenical radio program also accessible online at Day1.org and by podcast. Hear "Day1" in the Atlanta area on WSB 95.5 and 750 AM Sundays at 7:05 a.m. “Into the Deep” is drawn from Luke 5:1-11, the familiar story of Jesus’s call to Simon Peter, James, and John to come and fish for men. That is at the end of this story that begins with tired fishermen who have worked all night and caught nothing. Jesus instructs them to go into the deep water. “Outside, in the depths, in an uncomfortable place, the miracle happens. Out in the depths, Simon and his friends find an overflowing catch of fish,” she says. “That’s the way it is with Jesus: abundance.” “Day 1” has been broadcast every week for 80 years.  For more information, check http://day1.org.

7. Presbyterians for a Better Georgia presents 2025 Advocacy Training, February 11, 7:00 p.m. on Zoom. Come learn about issues central to this year's legislative session during an online training event. PBG's legislative focus in 2025 include: Passing a safe gun storage to protect kids; Banning the death penalty for people with intellectual disabilities; Growing access to mental and physical healthcare for all; Ending homelessness and increasing affordable housing across Georgia. 8. Note a time change and bill number: Georgians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty (GFADP) and partners are inviting all to join their Day at the Capitol on Wednesday, Feb. 12, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. This is a great opportunity for both new advocates and seasoned ones to have a real impact on our state's policies, in particular they will be advocating for HB123, legislation ensuring Georgians with intellectual disabilities are not executed. 9. Exploring the Meaning of Retreat: A Two-Part Interfaith Conversation at Ignatius House Jesuit Retreat Center in Sandy Springs, Feb. 13 and Feb. 27. How do different faith traditions understand the practice of retreat as a time to connect with God, the Divine, or a deeper spiritual truth? Two evenings will explore the profound significance of retreat across religious traditions. Thursday, Feb. 13, from 6:30-9 p.m., Leaders from the Abrahamic faiths—Judaism, Christianity, and Islam—will share insights on how retreat is practiced and its role in fostering spiritual renewal, connection, and growth. Thursday, Feb. 27, from 6:30-9 p.m., Teachers and practitioners from Hinduism, Buddhism, and other faiths will delve into the ways their traditions embrace retreat as a journey inward to encounter the sacred, cultivate mindfulness, and nurture the soul. Each evening will feature a panel discussion with esteemed speakers, followed audience Q&A and light refreshments. Whether you’re curious about the spiritual traditions of others or seeking inspiration for your own practice, this program offers a unique opportunity to deepen your understanding of how retreat transcends cultural and religious boundaries. 12. Celebrate Black History Month with the North Avenue Presbyterian Church Concert Series Sunday afternoons in February for an unforgettable journey through the rich and inspiring legacy of Black music. From the soulful melodies of Jazz to the powerful harmonies of Gospel and spirituals, this series showcases the incredible artistry and heritage of Black music. Sunday, Feb. 16, 4:00 p.m., renowned vocalist T. Renée Crutcher. She has spent more than 40 years as an accomplished performing artist recording and appearing around the globe. She has worked with such luminaries as; Harry Belafonte, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Leonard Bernstein, Robert Shaw, Hugh Masekela, Leta Mbulu,Soul II Soul, Barry White, Joe Cocker, Roy Ayers, Lou Rawls, and others. 13. Jazz at All Saints’ Saturday Feb. 22, Carmen Bradford with Reginald Thomas, a 2024 Grammy Award winner for her vocals on “Basie Swings the Blues,” Bradford is jazz royalty. 14. Please register this week for the Georgia Interfaith Power & Light annual Green Team Summit on Sunday, Feb. 23, from 2-8 p.m. at Northside United Methodist Church. Green Team Summits are opportunities for Green Teams, faith leaders, and environmental activists from across Georgia to gather for a time of fellowship and shared learning. This year's theme is “Seeding Life.” This summit aims to cultivate a shared vision for a flourishing world rooted in hope and joy. Registration is open and you can get Tickets here.

15. The Breman Museum has announced the launch of the Levison Family Music Series, honoring Jarvin Levison, the Atlanta attorney who was instrumental in the founding of the William Breman Jewish Heritage Museum and remained a steadfast supporter of the institution for nearly three decades. The series debuts with the Joe Alterman Trio and special guest violinist Aaron Weinstein in a jazz concert titled Strings Attached Sunday, Feb. 23.  These talented, energetic musicians will have heads bobbing and toes tapping in the audience, as well as laughs reverberating due to the artists’ clever onstage banter. 16. Pitts Theological Library has put the finishing touches on the Spring 2025 gallery exhibition “Singing the Sacred: Songbooks and Hymnals from the Sounding Spirit Digital Library.” Visitors can explore dozens of music books from the late 19th and early 20th century, all now digitized through the Sounding Spirit project, a collaboration between Emory’s Center for Digital Scholarship and several large repositories of hymnals, including Pitts. This project is funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities, Learn more here.
