Sponsor: The Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys
Participants: Females ages 12 - 16 charged with only mild to moderate offenses
Details:Mentors and participants meet from 10 a.m. to noon every second and fourth Saturday of each month at the Juvenile Court Building. For the first time, mentors in the 2007 cycle will be paired in teams to give each girl more attention and to offer mentors opportunities to share the experience. Mentors are not limited to attorneys, but are diverse in profession, background and ethnicity. This mentoring opportunity includes off-site enrichment activities. For example, in 2006 the girls had an opportunity to visit the courtroom and chambers of Georgia Supreme Court Chief Justice Leah Sears, and have been invited to return.
