I CARE

I CARE, Inc. (Interfaith Companion And Ride Express) is a nonprofit organization that matches volunteer drivers with DeKalb County seniors who have no means of transportation to medical appointments. Volunteers use their own vehicles and choose their own schedules for service. Volunteers may drive once a week or once a month, depending on their preference. Periodically, I CARE provides volunteer drivers with gas cards to help defray the cost of gas. If you or someone you know is interested in volunteering to help provide this much-needed service, please call Lori Webster, volunteer coordinator at 404-377-2273.

Georgia Alliance to Prevent Homelessness announces a Call for Presenters for the 2026 Conference, Community Power in Ending Homelessness: From Systems to Solutions, taking place May 4–6, 2026 at the Marietta Conference Center. This year’s conference will focus on aligning federal and state direction with community-driven innovation, measurable outcomes, and long-term stability. Practitioners, policymakers, researchers, advocates, law enforcement, healthcare partners, and community leaders are invited to submit workshop proposals aligned with the following tracks: 1. Federal & State Policy Shifts, 2. Community-Driven Solutions, 3. Long-Term Self-Sufficiency & Outcomes, 4. Data, Accountability & Measuring Success, 5. Workforce Sustainability, 6. Housing Stability & Supply, 7. Homelessness Reform & System Transformation, 8. Crisis Response, Workplace Safety & Public Safety Partnerships, 9. Addressing Root Causes Before and Alongside Housing.
