  1. The King Center invites you to Better Together & Beloved Community Talk: The Letter Still Speaks: Standing Against Injustice in a Divided World, 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 29. Moderated by Emmy-nominated broadcaster Dr. Rashad Richey, this timely conversation brings together Rev. Dr. Bernice A. King, Dr. Robert Franklin, Rev. Dr. Michael Louis Pfleger, and Dr. Iva Carruthers, renowned voices in faith, scholarship, and social justice.   2. All Souls' Choral Evensong presented by the All Saints' Parish Choir, Thursday, Oct. 30, 7 p.m. A traditional Choral Evensong in memory of our loved ones. Sit, listen, pray, light a candle if you wish, all to the sound of poignant prayers and anthems presented by the All Saints' Parish Choir. Join us in the church or via livestream on our website and YouTube. Music will include works by Charles Villiers Stanford, Joanna Forbes L’Estrange, Ernest Bullock, and Charles Hubert Hastings Parry.   3. Georgia Interfaith Power & Light (GIPL) invites you to the first-ever Tree Adoption Event, in partnership with Trees Atlanta. Become an enthusiastic adopter and give native trees a forever home and increase our community's tree canopy. Come to receive one or two FREE native trees(three-gallon size, ready for planting) and a small planting and care kit.  Saturday, Nov. 1, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., Kirkwood United Church of Christ, 100 Rogers Street NE, Atlanta, GA.... You'll also have the chance to learn tree planting basics, enjoyfree coffee, and browse other plants for sale from local organizations. GIPL's Tree Planting and Adoption Program focuses on increasing canopy coverage in under-invested census blocks, and there will be plenty of trees reserved for those neighborhoods. Please submit this quick interest form below to help estimate attendance, but an R.s.v.p. is not required to adopt a tree. R.s.v.p. here.
  4. Join Day1 for Episode 4206 with Rev. Susan Sparks, senior pastor of Madison Avenue Baptist Church, New York City, and standup comedian and Harley enthusiast. In “Pray. Work. Rest. Repeat.” on 2 Thessalonians 1:1–4, 11–12, she invites us into a Christ-centered rhythm that keeps us aligned with God’s call: begin in prayer, serve with purpose, and honor holy rest. Hear Day1 in the Atlanta area on WSB 95.5 and 750 AM Sunday at 7:05 a.m. And, the program is also accessible now online at Day1.org, on the “Day1” YouTube channel and on Appleand Spotify podcasts.  So you can listen any time.
  5. The Georgia Worship Choir is a community choir of diverse Christians united by their love for Jesus, and passionate about creating worship experiences that inspire people to draw closer to Him. The Fall Concert Series offers worship Sunday, Nov. 2, 6 p.m. at Roswell Street Baptist Church, 744 Roswell St, Marietta 30060.
  6. The 37th Annual Homeless Requiem at The Cathedral of St. Philip Monday, Nov. 3. The Requiem is a service in memory of individuals who have died in the past year while unhoused. Buses will pick up guests—Atlantans currently experiencing homelessness—at various shelters and Woodruff Park and provide return transportation as well. Beginning at 4:30 p.m. guests are welcome to visit with service providers for healthcare screenings, a foot clinic, clothing closet, and more, then enjoy a warm, communal meal at 5 p.m. At 6:15 p.m. guests can participate in the Choral Prelude in the Cathedral, followed by the Requiem Service at 7 p.m.  Atlanta Voiceswill provide the music for the service. The mission of Atlanta Voices is to promote the music of under recognized peoples. Childcare will be provided throughout the event beginning at 4:30 p.m.
  7. Two upcoming parent seminars sponsored by Morningside Presbyterian Preschool. Please let them know if you’re coming and if you will need childcare during the sessions. Children will be cared for, and their dinner will be provided (pizza). Feel free to send a pack style dinner, if your child does not want pizza.   8. Kessler Conversations at Pitts Theological Library, Candler School of Theology, Emory University. These online, 30-45 minute conversations offer opportunities to learn about the events in 16th century Europe and to consider what they may tell us about the issues facing our communities. Conversations focus on a single contemporary theme and trace it back to the Reformers. These conversations are free and open to the public, but registration is required. This fall, the topic is “Reforming Intelligence: AI and the Legacy of the Reformation,” and features three scholars who have incorporated machine learning into their study of the early modern period.   16. Veterans Day at the National Cathedral, Saturday, Nov. 8, 4:00 p.m. with a concert featuring “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band’s ensemble “Free Country”.   21. Sign up for Expanded Networks of Care Compassionate Response Training. This training equips Atlantans to utilize de-escalation and alternative response for our neighbors in distress through scenario practice, and information about emergency response systems in Atlanta.   22.  You are invited to a new musical drama, The Promise, presented November 13-15 by the Drama Ministry of Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Decatur. The Promise reimagines the story of God’s promises to the family of Abraham, Sarah, Hagar, and their children, Ishmael and Isaac, and God’s promise “for all the families of the earth”. Mark your calendar for A Song for Ukraine – Benefit Concert for the children of the Aza Nizi Maza Art program, Nov. 22, 6 p.m. Join Grammy-nominated folk musician John McCutcheon together with other musicians, including Ukrainian bandura player Olena Kovban, for a powerful evening of music, art, and hope. This benefit concert will also feature artwork created in underground shelters by children of the Aza Nizi Maza Art Studio in Kharkiv. Together with HelpingUkraine.US, all proceeds will directly support displaced Ukrainian children through education, art therapy, and safe community spaces in Odesa, Kharkiv, Kryvyi Rih, and frontline villages in Kherson.
