Episcopal Church of the Incarnation, 2407 Cascade Road SW, Atlanta 30311 will host “Because Your Voice Matters,” Friday, Sept. 13, 4-6 p.m. There you can register to vote, update voter records, check voter status, request a vote-by-mail, find election information, and get your questions answered.   3. The Rev. Carla Jones Brown, senior pastor of Arch Street Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, Pa., is the featured preacher Sept. 15 and Sept. 22 on “Day1” with host Katie Givens Kime, the nationally broadcast ecumenical radio program also accessible as a podcast and online at Day1.org. Hear Day1 on WSB 95.5 and 750 AM, Sundays, at 7:05 a.m. The sermon for Sept. 15, “Real ID Required for Travel,” is drawn from Mark 8:27-38. “When Jesus begins this teaching, Peter rebukes him as if Jesus is wrong for his understanding of Himself and His mission,” she says. “Oh Peter, I know it is hard to imagine but we may have to consider the possibility that what we expected and what we thought were incompatible with what is. Join Georgia Interfaith Power and Light, Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta, and Ismaili CIVICon World River Day and Global Ismaili CIVIC Day, Sept. 15, to act upon a shared ethic of environmental stewardship and clean up seven sites in metro Atlanta including one at the Peachtree Creek Greenway in Brookhaven, two in Decatur at the Clyde Shepherd Nature Preserve and Mason Mill Park, a location in Fulton County, Fayette County, Gwinnett County, and another in West Atlanta. Organist Mason Copeland will perform at the Cathedral of St. Philip in person and livestreamed on the Cathedral website, Sunday, Sept. 15, 3:15 p.m. Copelandserves as music associate and organist at Central Presbyterian Church in downtown Atlanta. He studied at Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan and is a graduate of Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. Choral Evensong will follow. He will perform works of Bach, Mendelssohn, and Schumann.

From Mental Health America Georgia Leadership Empowerment Access Program LEAP Character Counts, Tuesday, Sept. 17, 10:30 – 11 a.m. This workshop supports building character for success, and you will be able to identify the characteristics needed to increase your social-emotional literacy, assess your needs and how to manage positive outcomes, and practice how to maintain healthy environments and relationships while tackling life’s tough decisions.   9. Have you registered for the screening of 1946: The Mistranslation that Shifted Culture, on September 19? This year’s Morgan Forum, the annual celebration of and engagement with Pitts Theological Library’s J. Michael Morgan English Bible & Psalmody Collection, includes a screening of the film 1946. This movie follows the story of researchers who trace the origins of the anti-gay movement among Christians to a mistranslation of the Bible in 1946. It chronicles the discovery of never-before-seen archives at Yale University which unveil cast significant doubt on any biblical basis for LGBTQIA+ prejudice. Register Here

The North Fulton Improvement Network is a think tank made up of community leaders from a variety of sectors, including business, nonprofit, faith, government, and citizens who come from the six cities making up the northern half of Fulton County— Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Milton, Mountain Park, Roswell, and Sandy Springs. To address the widespread, yet still little-known housing crisis across the region, they recently began a series of monthly podcasts. Suicide is a leading cause of death in young people. What is the role of the faith community in ministering to troubled young people? Share Hope is an interfaith social media contest to promote the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
