If you are a clergy person in the role of pastor, staff pastor, chaplain, commissioned minister, educator, or ministerial candidates with a passion to lead well, this event is for you.

This workshop is the first component of a multi-year leadership program funded by a grant and designed to:
(a) train and provide support for full and part time clergy/ordained, commissioned and ministerial candidates to increase their leadership capacity; and (b) increase their personal/spiritual health and vibrancy. This learning opportunity will provide a renewed leadership capacity to engage and explore communities of faith in new and life giving ministry that provides hope to communities and shares the good news of Jesus Christ.

The program includes:

  • Leadership assessments
  • Action reflection model of learning.
  • Addressing real situations in participant’s ministerial settings.
  • Theological reflection from a perspective of practical theology.
  • Peer support and mentoring of one another.
  • Developing a shared commitment to reframe leadership practices in congregational ministry.

Miller Professor of Homiletics and Director of the Academy of Preaching and Celebration at Christian Theological Seminary, Indianapolis, Indiana. An updated version of They Like to Never Quit Praisin’ God: The Role of Celebration In Preaching was released in August 2013, and it is considered by many to   be a homiletic classic.

Especially for youth ministers and leaders: The Regional Council of Churches is partnering with the Georgia Dept. of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities in SHARE HOPE. Suicide is a leading cause of death in young people. What is the role of the faith community in ministering to troubled young people? Share Hope is an interfaith social media contest to promote the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. Because we know that just pausing before acting often stops a suicide attempt, 988 is one important tool in fostering a healthy community. Have a look www.988ga.org/faith. This activity could be a great way to start off the school year with your creative youth group. And, your group could win a $250 Pizza Party--there will be ten winners.
