Participants: Youth 12-16
Sponsor: Unity Network and Counseling Center
Details:A Guiding Hand matches volunteer mentors with children for a period of 10 months. Mentors are committed, consistent and have undergone a training and clearance procedure to insure the well being of children involved in the program. Mentors do not take the place of parents and caregivers, but rather, provide support for the youth via a trusting, special, healthy relationship. Mentors make a difference in a youth’s capacity to become competent, confident, happy and successful by providing tutoring, skill building, nurturing, coaching and consistency. Teens Like Me, Inc.
Pledge- A- Job Campaign
www.teenslikeme.org
Hello Prospective Partner Employer,
Teens Like Me, Inc. (TLM) is a charitable nonprofit organization that inspires teens to become actively engaged in community service. We do this by employing teens, ages 15-19, during the summer to work in nonprofit organizations and our Partner-Employers pay nothing.
We are preparing for 2012 with our Pledge - A - Job – Campaign.
Georgia Summer Heat (Help. Employ. Ambitious. Teens) is the campaign we run once a year in which we contact partner nonprofit organizations, seeking job placements.
This campaign gives you the opportunity to pledge a job and by pledging a job now, Teens Like Me, will acquire an insight on the number of summer job placements to present.
In return, we offer summer help to you free of charge, for up to 8 weeks, during the months of June through August.
Our interns will help strengthen your business. Teens begin selecting internship positions in January 2012.
Working with your organization, teens will learn new skills, build strong work habits, earn a summer income, and most of all, they will gain valuable life lessons through their community service experiences.
To match you with the best teen, TLM will meet any accommodations you request. The intern will work between 20-35 hours a week. We pay each teen $9.00 to $10.00 per hour (depending on funding)
The funds paid act as reimbursement for transportation, meals, and other reasonable out of pocket expenses directly related to the TLM program participation.
This paid summer internship is funded totally through our charitable nonprofit organization.
Teens Like Me internship is known by teens to be a highly competitive and prestigious program.
We ask that you pledge a job or jobs for a teen. If you are interested in investing in our teens, reply or visit the website for further information at www.teenslikeme.org and then go to pledge a job of the Employer section.
Thank you for your time, participation and support. I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,
Jeannie Collins

Medicaid Re-enrollment

If your ministry serves Medicaid/PeachCare for Kids, the Dept. of Human Services has a message and materials for you.

    • Redetermination began in April 2023. Based on changes in federal law, the State of Georgia must complete redeterminations up to May 2024. We want to ensure current Medicaid and PeachCare for Kids® members are still eligible for coverage.
    • During redetermination, the State of Georgia will collect and verify member information, including contact and income details as well as other requested information and documents that will be used to determine member eligibility. Not everyone will go through this process at the same time. In fact, it will take about 14 months to reach everyone.
    • Members can visit gateway.ga.gov to view their redetermination date and to update their contact information today so they can stay informed about the status of their coverage.
    • Members who need help can visit their local Division of Family & Children Services office for support. To find the location and business hours for local offices, visit: dfcs.ga.gov/location
    • For more information on Medicaid redetermination, we are including a partner toolkit with resources in multiple languages, please visit “Stay Informed. Stay Covered.”

Lutheran Resource in Response to Gun Violence

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, saddened by the all-too-frequent occurrences of gun violence in the U.S., invites you on a journey of prayer, scripture, stories, and church teachings with this resource, A 60-Day Journey Towards Justice in a Culture of Gun Violence - an ELCA Resource  Through daily observances, it calls us to work toward the prevention of gun violence as people of God who strive for justice and peace in all the world. It may be used for individual reflection, group Bible study, adult education sessions, and congregational daily devotions. This began on June 16 but can be used at any time.
