“Not One More” conference at two congregations,
the Temple and Central Presbyterian Church, on Friday night, November 14 and Saturday, November 15.
The Rev. Jim Atwood and Josh Horwitz will attend both days. Jim and Josh have spent years working on behalf of gun sense in America and bring a passion and wisdom that you will not want to miss. From the planners, “Think of it as a time for the fueling of our collective passion to end gun violence in Georgia, so there will not be one more parent facing a future Thanksgiving with an empty chair at the table. Individually, bringing significant positive change to the prevailing gun culture in Georgia is daunting, but collectively, saner voices can and must prevail. So, please come. Please register to come. Please tell your friends, family members, neighbors, colleagues to come. You will be glad that you did. Shalom and Blessings” Register and get all the information here.
Especially for youth ministers and leaders: The Regional Council of Churches is partnering with the Georgia Dept. of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities in SHARE HOPE. Suicide is a leading cause of death in young people. What is the role of the faith community in ministering to troubled young people? Share Hope is an interfaith social media contest to promote the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. Because we know that just pausing before acting often stops a suicide attempt, 988 is one important tool in fostering a healthy community. Have a look www.988ga.org/faith. This activity could be a great way to start off the school year with your creative youth group. And, your group could win a $250 Pizza Party--there will be ten winners.
