Morehouse Installs Dr. John Silvanus Wilson Jr.

As Morehouse College celebrates its 147^th anniversary during Founder’s Week, February 9-16, 2014, the school also will officially welcome and install its 11^th president, Dr. John Silvanus Wilson Jr., a 1979 graduate of the institution. The celebration concludes on Sunday, February 16 featuring Dr. Charles Gilchrist Adams, senior pastor, Hartford memorial Baptist Church, Detroit, MI as the Founder’s Worship preacher at 11 a.m. and a 4 p.m. free concert featuring the world-renowned Morehouse College Glee Club. Georgia Alliance to Prevent Homelessness announces a Call for Presenters for the 2026 Conference, Community Power in Ending Homelessness: From Systems to Solutions, taking place May 4–6, 2026 at the Marietta Conference Center. This year’s conference will focus on aligning federal and state direction with community-driven innovation, measurable outcomes, and long-term stability. Practitioners, policymakers, researchers, advocates, law enforcement, healthcare partners, and community leaders are invited to submit workshop proposals aligned with the following tracks: 1. Federal & State Policy Shifts, 2. Community-Driven Solutions, 3. Long-Term Self-Sufficiency & Outcomes, 4. Data, Accountability & Measuring Success, 5. Workforce Sustainability, 6. Housing Stability & Supply, 7. Homelessness Reform & System Transformation, 8. Crisis Response, Workplace Safety & Public Safety Partnerships, 9. Addressing Root Causes Before and Alongside Housing.
