Just Voices and Pandora concerts celebrate Earth Day

Make plans to hear Just Voices and Pandora, a woman’s chorus, in an Earth Day celebration, April 21, at Covenant Presbyterian or Monday, April 22, at Virginia Highland Church.

Just Voices and Pandora celebrate Earth Day with performances of sacred and secular choral works. The program will include classical works by Brahms, Ralph Vaughan Williams, and Maurice Ravel, plus folk song arrangements by Aaron Copland, John Rutter, and Alice Parker.

Many pieces feature distinguished texts by poets such as Shakespeare, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Christina Rossetti, and A. E. Housman. A special section of the concert will be devoted to humorous songs about animals, including Eric Whitacre’s hilarious "Animal Crackers" with texts by Ogden Nash, and Rossini’s “Comic Duet for Two Cats.”

This is a concert suitable for all ages. Adults $10 - Students and Seniors $5. For more information contact Liz Frazer at 404- 875-3266 or visit www.justvoices.org.

What to do

  1. Call your U.S. Representative and urge them not to accept the Senate version of the budget reconciliation bill without amendments that:
    1. Protect vulnerable populations by restoring or preserving funding for food assistance, healthcare, housing, education, and childcare.
    2. Avoid placing new, unfunded administrative burdens on states and nonprofits.
    3. Retain programs that are essential to local jobs, services, and economic resilience in communities across your district, including Inflation Reduction Act funding.
  2. Reach out to local officials to speak about the economic harm involved, and ask them to speak out against provisions that harm your nonprofit as an employer and contributor to the local economy.
  3. Mobilize your network to do the same. Every voice counts!
