Church Action eNewsletter Holy Week 2026
God calls us to some things we cannot do alone. 

1. Hands in the Soil: Women Cultivating Land, Community, & Cooperative Power is at noon today, Monday, March 30. This conversation will highlight how women are advancing entrepreneurship through farming, cooperative leadership, and community-rooted agriculture. From land stewardship to local food systems, women continue to play a critical role in cultivating both economic opportunity and community well-being. Register to Attend! The Federation of Southern Cooperatives/Land Assistance Fund is a 58-year-old cooperative association of primarily Black farmers, landowners, and cooperatives founded directly out of the civil rights movement.

2. The Pitts Theological Library exhibition gallery is now open with a marvelous exploration of William Tyndale’s translation of the New Testament in English, which was first published 500 years ago (or was it 501 years ago? Come to the gallery to find out!). The exhibition features some of the most significant Bibles ever printed, including Tyndale’s early publications, the sources he used for his translation, and the line of English Bibles that drew upon his ground-breaking work. 3. The Good Friday Pilgrimage is a significant event in the Archdiocese of Atlanta, offering a moving experience that includes scripture readings, reflections, prayer, and music as we remember the passion of Christ and the social injustices in our world today. The 45th annual Good Friday Pilgrimage (Urban Stations of the Cross) will take place on April 3, 2026, from 8:45 a.m. to 12 p.m. Participants will gather at the Catholic Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, located at 48 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, SW, Atlanta, Georgia 30303. The event concludes at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 25 Boulevard, NE, with transportation available to return participants to their starting point. The two-mile route is wheelchair/stroller accessible, and all faiths are welcome to join. For more information or to volunteer, contact kdoyle@archatl.com.

4. Buckhead's annual Community Good Friday Service will be at Second-Ponce de Leon Baptist Church, Friday, April 3, at noon.  Everyone is invited to this powerful joint worship effort from six Buckhead churches: Peachtree Church, Peachtree Road United Methodist, Church at Wieuca, New Hope A.M.E., the Cathedral of Christ the King and Second-Ponce de Leon Baptist, 2715 Peachtree St, Atlanta 30305. There will be a mass choir with vocalists from the participating churches. About the Service.

5. “Seven Last Words,” Good Friday, April 3, noon, Ebenezer Baptist Church, hosted by the Rev. Dr. Raphael Warnock, featuring the Rev. Dr. Dewey E. Smith, the Rev. Natosha Reid Rice, Rev. Dr. Carolyn A. Knight, the Rev. Dr. Kevin Muririel. Rev. Dr. Jonathan Augustine, Bishop William Murphy, and the Rev. Dr. Neichelle Guidry.

6. Shallowford Presbyterian Church will host its Annual Children's Easter Egg Hunt (infants-fifth grade), Saturday, April 4, at 10:00 am.  All are welcome for the telling of the Easter Story and age-appropriate egg hunts. 7. “The Resurrection: The Ultimate Meta-Narrative” is Fr. Ronald Rolheiser’s sermon for Easter Sunday on Day1. He invites us to become midwives of hope in a fearful and uncertain world. 13. Join Faith Advocacy Network (FAN) Forum featuring journalist Brian Goldstone, author of There Is No Place for Us: Working and Homeless in America. Goldstone will be in conversation about his landmark work documenting the growing crisis of the working homeless. Sunday, April 12, 1 p.m. Through the stories of five Atlanta families, the book reveals the dramatic rise of people who are employed yet unable to secure stable housing in cities across America. Named one of The New York Times and The Atlantic’s Ten Best Books of the Year and one of Barack Obama’s Favorite Books of the Year, the book has also been recognized by NPR, The Washington Post, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and others. 15. St. Mary’s Sewanee invites you to an Introduction to Centering Prayer Weekend Retreat, led by The Rev. Margaret Caldwell. Whether you are new to contemplative prayer or longing to deepen an existing practice, this weekend offers a gentle and welcoming space to encounter God in stillness. 16. Southern Crescent 7th Annual Champions for Children Superhero 5 K Run/Walk is April 18 at Clayton County International Park in Jonesboro. Online registration is now open at Home | scsac. All proceeds benefit Southern Crescent Sexual Assault and Child Advocacy Center.

17. The Festival Singers of Atlanta invite you to “Let’s Talk About Animals.” The program is an eclectic mix of songs from the Renaissance to modern times about animals ranging from lambs, lobsters, turtle doves, eagles, seals. Saturday, April 18, at 4 p.m. in the Sanctuary of St. Mark United Methodist Church, 781 Peachtree Street, Atlanta 30308. A reception will follow the concert. Tickets are $20, general admission, and $10 for seniors 65 better and students and military with ID. 9. Having the right staff providing care for your loved one is essential for a safe and meaningful experience. Bobby Dodd Institute offers a session on the importance of developing a profile to match interests with a potential care provider and will review key steps for recruiting, hiring, training, and managing the employer/employee relationship. 20. National Faith + Climate Forum 2026 is Saturday, April 25, 12 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.  View the full agenda and speaker lineup here. You have two options to choose from:

21. The 3rd Annual Change Makers Summit Powered by Tackle the Shackles, in partnership with City Takers, in honor of Second Chance Month is designed to bridge the gap between returning citizens and the communities they reenter. The vision is to unite a diverse coalition of reentry providers, county officials, church congregations, and community leaders. By highlighting prison reform and sharing vital reentry resources, the Summit aims to build a robust network of influencers dedicated to creating sustainable impact across Metro Atlanta, Georgia, and the nation. 22. Dr. Jane Goodall Leadership Legacy Program, As a key part of the Women’s Leadership: Global and Grassroots Pathways for Collective I... series, the Parliament of the World’s Religions Women’s Leadership Task Force presents programming celebrating Jane Goodall’s Leadership Legacy. Dr. Nayana Shah will facilitate a set of three thought-provoking panels bringing together panelists spanning different regions and generations, all doing inspiring and transformational work connected to Dr. Jane Goodall’s life message. Learn More. Click the title of Panel 1 to register. Panel 1: Animal Cognition, Consciousness, Sentience, and Ethics, April 9, 2026 at 10 a.m. ET.
