2. Come to a Sacred Harp Singing this Thursday, August 6, at 7:00 p.m. at Emory Presbyterian Church, 1886 N Decatur Rd, Atlanta 30307. Park behind the church, and enter the Fellowship Hall. Singing will be from “The Sacred Harp: 2025 Edition.” Loaners are available.
3. The Emerging Leaders for Community Change Cohort — an initiative of the Faith Forward Democracy network and the Carter Center— is now accepting applications. Designed to empower the next generation of peacemakers and drive lasting positive impact across metro Atlanta, the program welcomes applicants ages 18–30 from all backgrounds, traditions, and ideologies. 4. Community Engagement Training, August 8, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., at The Cobb County Chamber of Commerce. Following the Safety Net training in the spring, the GA DRN is hosting a further civic resilience training for the north metro Atlanta area to offer skills for community leaders in all sectors and of all beliefs to bridge divides in their communities. 5. The Trumpet Concert at Northside Drive Baptist Church, 3100 Northside Drive, Atlanta 30305, being presented by Douglas Escobar in the Chapel has been rescheduled from August 1 to August 8 at 4:00 p.m.

Disciplined Disruption: A Nonviolent Response to Injustice invites participants to reflect on what true leadership requires when systems, cultures, or circumstances push us toward accepting injustice rather than transforming it. 7. Deputy Registrar Training for Voter Registration, August 11, 6:00 p.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 435 Peachtree Street NE, Atlanta 30308. Fulton County Voter Education and Outreach will be at St. Luke's to provide the required training to certify citizens to be Deputy Registrars for Voter Registration. Monica Donohue will be the speaker at the Magnificat gathering for women Saturday morning, Aug. 22. Donohue is a parishioner at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. All women are invited to attend the meal, which will be held at Holy Cross Church in Atlanta, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Atlanta Chapter of Magnificat hosts the meal, which includes breakfast, a time of praise and worship with music and the speaker’s testimony. For the month of August, Pitts Theology Library’s 30-Day Display features The Story of the Jubilee Singers by J.B.T. Marsh. Published in 1880, it chronicles the beginning of Fisk University’s Jubilee Singers. Fisk University was founded in 1865 by the American Missionary Association to support newly emancipated African Americans. Sacred Friends Interfaith brings together people in small, diverse groups to consider important issues. This is first of a series on World Religions. Tuesday evenings from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 15 – Nov. 3. We will be guided by our Hindu friends in Interfaith Friendship Circles to be composed of 4-6 persons of different faiths.
