God calls us to some things we cannot do alone. 

1. At the moment, Hagar House Shelter, an emergency shelter for families with children. does not have adequate volunteers signed up to provide dinner for the families. If you’re able to help, it would be appreciated. Sign Up
2. AFSC Reparative Justice & Healing Fund:American Friends Service Committee is accepting applications for the third year of  their Reparative Justice and Healing Fund. The fund supports Black and Indigenous-led social justice organizations and projects in the U.S. This initiative is part of AFSC’s ongoing efforts to recognize and support those who work with and within communities that have been systemically underserved and marginalized. Apply by July 31 to be considered!
3. Eco Addendum Walk With Ted Saturday, August 1 at Ashford Forest Preserve, an informative Naturalist Walk with Commissioner Ted Terry in this greenspace gem in North Dekalb. For more information and to register click here
4. Got too many water bottles cluttering up your cabinet?  A Home for Everyone in DeKalb can help! They are accepting new or clean, lightly used reusable water bottles. Your donation can provide immediate, essential hydration to unhoused community members during these hot summer months. It's a small act that makes a huge splash.  Drop off details:308 Clairemont Ave,Decatur, GA 30030  Saturday, August 1,  12 - 4 p.m.
5. Trumpet Concert in the Chapel, Northside Drive Baptist Church, 3100 Northside Drive NW, Atlanta 30305. Douglas Escobar, staff singer and trumpeter at Northside Drive Baptist, will be leaving Atlanta to pursue his Doctor of Musical Arts at University of Illinois, Champlain. He is presenting a going away recital on Saturday, August 1, at 4:00 p.m. in the beautiful Chapel. This concert (donation only) will help Douglas take this enormous step in completion of his educational studies.  Your presence and generosity are greatly appreciated.

7. Episode 4245 of Day1 features the Rev. Dr. Kimberly Wagner preaching from the story in Genesis 32 of Jacob’s wrestling at the river Jabbok. Host Rev. 8. Amen is just the beginning. When people of different faith traditions choose curiosity over fear, something powerful happens. By learning from, celebrating and comforting one another, we strengthen our community. 9. Deep WatersFaith and Filmseries continues. After watching the film, the group will explore how the movie’s themes and characters relate to their own spiritual journeys. 12. Community Engagement Training, August 8, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at The Cobb County Chamber of Commerce. Following the Safety Net training in the spring, the GA DRN is hosting a further civic resilience training for the north metro Atlanta area to offer skills for community leaders in all sectors and of all beliefs to bridge divides in their communities. 13. Back to School Drive, Supporting students. Strengthening futures. Building a brighter tomorrow. August 8, 2 – 5 p.m., Gresham Park Christian Church

16. Tickets are now available and all are welcome to Decatur Cooperative Ministry’s Annual Sip & Savor fundraising event to help families facing homelessness settle into safe, stable homes!
