Domestic Violence Awareness Month

In every congregation of every faith, victims, survivors and abusers sit in our pews. Some are listening for words of recognition, understanding, comfort, and healing, hoping to hear that the church stands with them and wants them to choose life. All need to hear a clear message that violence in our homes is against the will of God. Our silence makes us complicit to the suffering.

Words of encouragement for women from LDS President Sullivan

The Lord will comfort the widow during the evenings of her mourning. The Lord will consecrate the performance of the righteous single mother so that the melody of her actions will bring harmony to her family. The Lord will imbue the wounded wife with the capacity to forgive and will send the fiery blaze sunlight through the dark shadow of imposing clouds. The Lord will send the warm embrace of companionship to the righteous single sister; for lonely is not the permanent state of the pure and…

Food Pantry Forum

Food Pantry Forum, July 25, 10 a.m., 458 Ponce de Leon Avenue.  Our hosts are the Grace United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Board of Global Missions with coffee and treats provided by United Way.

We plan a robust program with a presentation -- Being a Client Choice Pantry, Developing Partnerships, Where We Get the Food We Give.  After the presentations we will have time for Q & A and conversation as we continue to learn from each other.

Through the generosity of the manager of Lowe’s at Newnan Crossing we will have a great door prize, a refrigerator!  And, delivered to your location! So be thinking if this could help your pantry take advantage of fresh produce from gardens and prepared food from restaurants or catering services.

We need to know if you are coming. Email ecarter@rccatl.org
